Gelatin is found in collagen and is a heterogeneous mixture of water-soluble proteins with a high average molecular weight. Gelatin is a kind of aqueous colloid, rich in glycine, proline and hydroxyproline, and has structural stability. Gelatin coating can promote the adhesion and growth of a variety of cells, and is used to culture normal or transfected cells, such as vascular endothelial cells, cardiomyocytes, embryonic stem cells, and islet cells.
