Product details

Microplate sealing films and foils are single-use adhesive covers designed to safeguard well contents against leakage, contamination, and evaporation during assay processing, incubation, or storage. These products come in a variety of materials, each tailored for specific applications such as PCR/qPCR, cell culture, ELISA, short-term and long-term storage, and fluorescence assays.

  • Uniformly applied adhesive provides a tight seal on multiwell microplates under a wide range of temperature conditions and reagents.
  • Adhesive seals minimize evaporation and prevent well to well cross contamination for PCR applications.
  • Compatible with most plate materials: polypropylene, dual component (polycarbonate/polypropylene)and polystyrene.
  • Peelable film removes easily from plate surface.
  • Ideal for light-sensitive samples.
  • Breathable Sealing Film allows effective gas exchange for cellular and bacterial cultivation, while reducing contamination.
  • Breathable Sealing Film is ahydrophobic, gas permeable membrane with a medical grade, non-cytotoxic adhesive.
  • Certified free of detectable DNase/RNase, human DNA and pyrogens. Contents non-cytotoxic.

Question:

I am having problems with evaporation when using an adhesive seal. What do you recommend?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

To prevent evaporation when using adhesive seals, firm application pressure must be applied to establish robust adhesive contact and bond strength around well rims.

Question:

How to ensure airtight sealing for PCR applications?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Use sealing films with compatible plate types and apply even pressure during sealing.

Question:

Are Ucallm sealing films compatible with robotic plate handlers?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Yes, but verify film thickness and elasticity with your system.

Question:

Are adhesive seals free of DNase, RNase, and human DNA?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Whilst adhesive seals are manufactured in a clean facility, they are not certified free of DNase, RNase, and human DNA.

Question:

How long does Breathable Seal Film maintain gas permeability?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Typically 72 hours for optimal CO₂ exchange in cell cultures.

Question:

Can Breathable Seal Film films be reused?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

No, single-use only to avoid cross-contamination.

Question:

Are their films autoclavable?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Most films are not autoclavable; check product specifications.

Question:

How do I verify the compatibility of the seal film with the microplate/instrument?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Check the product manual for plate type (e.g., PCR strip, 96-well) and instrument compatibility lists.

Question:

Does the sealing film cause condensation to permeate?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Use a hydrophobic film (e.g., polyethylene-based) or ensure proper storage conditions.

Question:

What is the expiry date of the sealed film?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Typically 2-3 years from the manufacturing date if stored at room temperature.

Question:

Will sealing mats withstand autoclaving?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Most mats are autoclavable; verify product specifications.

Question:

Do Ucallm mats work with 384-well plates?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Yes, but select the low-profile gasket designed for high-density formats.

Question:

What is the maximum temperature for sealing mats?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Up to 120°C for short-term applications (avoid prolonged exposure).

Question:

How to ensure airtightness for CO₂ incubation?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Use gas-permeable films or silicone gaskets with verified O₂/CO₂ permeability.

Question:

Do polypropylene (PP) gaskets react with certain reagents?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Avoid contact with strong acids (e.g., HCl) or organic solvents.

Question:

Can sealing gaskets be stored at -80°C?

Wenjng
14-Apr-2025

Answer:

Yes, but avoid folding to prevent brittleness.
